About the Instructor: Hollyn Peterson
Hollyn Peterson, the guiding star of our painting camps, brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the table. She completed her undergraduate degree in art at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where she honed her skills and developed a deep appreciation for creative expression. Hollyn’s teaching style is both encouraging and engaging, making her the perfect mentor for budding young artists. Her Internship was done at Rose Glenn Elementary.
Camp 1: By the Sea (July 8-12)
Our first camp, “By the Sea,” will take place from July 8 to July 12. This week-long adventure invites children to explore the vibrant and enchanting world of the ocean. Each day will be filled with exciting activities designed to ignite their imagination and improve their painting skills.
Daily Themes:
Day 1: Seascapes and Sunsets Children will learn to capture the beauty of the ocean at sunset, using a variety of acrylic painting techniques to create stunning seascapes.
Day 2: Marine Life Magic From dolphins to sea turtles, kids will paint their favorite sea creatures, learning about color blending and texture.
Day 3: Underwater Adventures This day will focus on the mysterious and magical world beneath the waves, encouraging children to use their creativity to depict underwater scenes.
Day 4: Coastal Children will paint coastal scenes like palm trees, sand and water, experimenting with different brush strokes and styles.
Day 5: Beach Fun The final day will be all about capturing the joy of a day at the beach, painting scenes of sandy shores, beach balls, and surfboards.
Camp 2: Summer Fun (August 5-8)
Our second camp, “Summer Fun,” runs from August 5 to August 8. This shorter, four-day camp is packed with activities that celebrate the sunny, carefree days of summer. Each day, children will explore different aspects of summer through their artwork.
Daily Themes:
Day 1: Summer Landscapes Kids will start by painting lush, green landscapes filled with flowers and sunshine, learning to work with light and shadow.
Day 2: Garden Delights This day will focus on the beauty of summer gardens, with children painting vibrant flowers, butterflies, and other garden delights.
Day 3: Playful Pets Pets are a big part of summer fun! Kids will paint their favorite furry friends enjoying summer activities, from playing fetch to lounging in the sun.
Day 4: Summer Celebrations The final day will be all about summer festivities. Children will paint scenes from barbecues, fireworks, and other summer celebrations, capturing the spirit of the season.
